Nickzilla!

So I went down to C-bus to watch the Nickster on Tuesday. He was soooo much fun. He actually can address you now. Instead of just asking who is this and having him respond "Nana" he now will actually address me by name. Obviously I was not helping him out as he thought I should have and finally he looked at me and said, "Nana, toy stuck!" More or less with the attitude, "hey lady, get off your butt and help me with this toy." (As you can see, I read between the lines!).

In the attached pictures you will note he has a train table (which his father and uncle seem to like more than he does). He isn't so much interested in having the train go on the tracks as he is standing on the table and knocking everything down. Hence the name, "Nickzilla!" His favorite toy at this time seems to be his plastic hammer. I feel sorry for Kristy, she's going to have to hide anything that is breakable - he loves his hammer.
On today's news they said Medina got 4 1/2 inches of snow. I am posting a picture showing the 12 plus inches we actually did get. Also a picture of our beagle (Bailey) who attempted to go out but the snow was over his head.

Stay warm everyone!

Still no stove.

So here we are yet again, still no stove. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I would begin to believe it is a figment of my imagination. Oh well, we're shooting for "next week" which seems to be the mantra from the company.
On a brighter note, the shower is really coming along. Tom has everything torn out, part of the plumbing done and will probably be tiling within a week or two.
I am truly tired of the snow and long to go somewhere warm. However, in order to get somewhere warm I would actually have to leave the house and I really don't do that in this weather. A conundrum for sure!

Hockey weekend!

Well, I went to visit my stove today. They uncrated it for me and I got to drool a little then they covered it back up. Once the new shelf comes, they can put it all together and hopefully install next week. In the meantime, Sher, John and Johnny are here this weekend for a hockey tournament. I had hoped to be cooking marvelous meals on the new stove but, adaptable as I am, I will be making those meals on the old stove. (Yes Mom, I will be sending leftovers to you! :-)

The dreaded computer!

Well we finally changed out the old office. We have been talking about it for a while now and finally got it done. You would think four bedrooms would have been enough when everyone comes home but it wasn't. So, we put the computer stuff in a cabinet and put a bed in the room and now we are back to five bedrooms. Remember that Tom and I live alone. However, when the hoards hit, there has to be room for everyone to stay over so now we have enough beds. Well, at least for the adults. The teens can sleep on the couches or floors but the married folk each have a room now.
So, in the process of moving the computer from the old desk to the cabinet, I took everything apart and put it all back together. Of course, it didn't work. I redid it several times and after much swearing and serious thought to kicking it, I did what works best for me. I had a glass of wine and went to bed. This morning, in a much better frame of mind, I took everything apart and put it back together one more time. For some reason, this time it worked. Have no idea why just glad it did.

Back from Columbus!

Well Tom and I spent Monday night in Columbus with Tara (our daughter-in-law) and then went over to Aaron and Kristy's house to watch Nicholas while Aaron took part two of his promotional exam. (Everyone, please keep good thoughts for him!) Nicholas was, as usual, a blast! He absolutely loves Pop Pop and only wanted to be with him. "Nana" on the other hand was a little miffed but I got over it. Nick went to the door, looked out, saw Pop Pop's truck and turned around looked at me and gave me the hungry sign (he knows sign language). We laughed and took him to breakfast. Are we well trained or what!
So now, we're back home and working on the bathroom. Life is just one big party!

Finally - outside is done!

I can't believe it, today is a banner day! They finally finished the gutters, soffitts and downspouts today. Yes, even with over a foot of snow. So, that means the outside of the house is finally done. I think I'll miss their trailer with the ladders, etc. that they left in the yard for MONTHS! Seriously though, they did a tremendous job and I am so glad it's done.
Now we are focusing on the upstairs master shower. Tom has been working like crazy to get the pocket door in and the old shower torn out. Once that is done, the rest should go rather quickly.
So, for now, we are happy in our little world of renovation.

Thursday!

Well we finally got word, I'll get the stove next Friday.
On a more ridiculous note, Tom and I both need to be committed. We started tearing out his shower and now part of the master bath and have begun to remodel it. There really wasn't anything wrong with the old one it's just that the new shower we put in the guest bathroom was so nice, we thought why shouldn't the master shower be as nice. It kind of went from there. Anyway should be great when we're through.
Oh yeah, did I mention we won't be taking that cruise? I shouldn't complain, I already got the airfare for New Orleans and I am so ready to go back to my imagined homeland!

Still no stove!

Okay, so I am trying to be patient (not very good at it) and it doesn't seem to be working. Originally I was told we'd have the stove in 10 days. It has been 4 weeks and I was told today we'd be lucky to have it by NEXT Friday. Oh well, what can you do? That would be nothing!

Spent yesterday in Columbus watching my grandson and had a blast. He is starting to talk and try to bargain with you. He really wanted candy and when I told him no he replied, "just one." Tried to hug and kiss to get me to give him candy when I still told him no, he got down and pretty much told me to get lost in babyspeak.

Here are some picture of him at Christmas.

The New Year!

Hello everyone. So we start the new year and hopefully it will be much better than years past. I have been very fortunate to reunite with some very cherished old friends over the past couple of weeks. Makes me very happy to have found them and find out that they are doing so well.
We are still waiting for our stove. Was supposed to be here on Friday but apparently it did not arrive at the warehouse. So, with hope I am waiting to hear that it will come next week.
Kristy and Nicholas went back to Columbus and Tom and I already miss them both. It's so funny that you go from a house full of people to just the two of you and you don't realize how much you miss having the kids around until they come back for a short time. I actually felt useful in that I could cook, do laundry and worry about them like I used to. Although, Tom and I enjoy each other, it was really fun playing with Nicholas like we used to do with our own children.
Now on to what we do best, we are now going to redo Tom's bathroom shower. Love to redecorate and luckily, there is always something to redo.
Take care everyone and hope your New Year is wonderful!
